Dr. Robert G. Dundas

BACKGROUND

Bob Dundas is a vertebrate paleontologist specializing in the study of Quaternary mammals of North America. A native of Missoula, Montana, Bob received his B.A. in Geology from the University of Montana. He pursued graduate studies at the University of California at Berkeley where he received his C.Phil. and Ph.D. in Paleontology. After completing his doctoral work, Bob taught for two years as a Lecturer on the faculty of the Department of Geosciences at San Francisco State University. In 1998, he joined the faculty at California State University, Fresno. Over the years Bob has also had other professional associations, including Adjunct Faculty of the State Center Community College District in California, Faculty Affiliate of the Department of Anthropology at the University of Montana, Research Fellow at the University of California Museum of Paleontology at Berkeley and Research Associate at the Museum of the Rockies, Montana State University, Bozeman. He belongs to several professional societies, including The Society of Vertebrate Paleontology, The Paleontological Society, The Geological Society of America, American Geophysical Union, and Society of American Foresters. Bob is author of numerous publications related to vertebrate paleontology and the history of railroad logging in Montana. Active in the community, he co-founded the San Joaquin Valley Paleontology Foundation in 1996, serving as the organization's first President. Bob also serves on the Madera County Board of Supervisor's Dig Oversight Committee, which oversees the County's Fairmead Landfill fossil locality. He maintains well funded programs in academic research and applied paleontology, bringing in over $1.2 million in the past few years, including financial support for graduate and undergraduate students.
